The Nest Collective is a registered charity that works alongside social workers and other community partners to provide free packs of baby essentials for whÄnau in need.
- What they do -
They give packs of new, pre-loved, handcrafted and repurposed essentials including clothing, toys, nappies, bedding, books and more.
Items are sourced through donations (both physical and financial) and provided to families via social workers, kaiÄwhina, midwives, nurses and other local community partners.

Drop-off locations in Auckland, Waikato, Gisborne, KÄpiti, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch and Dunedin.

What donations are accepted?
New, preloved and crafted items of baby and childrenâs essentials. The greatest need is generally books, baby clothing (prem to size 1), blankets, bedding and nappies. As well as wool and fabric (natural fibres) for the crafters âThe Nest Makersâ. For a list of the few items that are not accepted please click here.
What items are needed the most?
Clothing (size prem â 1 year)
- Knitted cardigans, jackets, vests
- Hats and beanies
- Booties and socks
- All in ones/stretch & grows
- Long & short sleeved bodysuits/onesies
- Pants
- Tops (short and long sleeved)
Blankets and bedding
- Blankets (wool, cotton or natural fibres)
- Baby sleeping bags
- Bassinet and cot sheets
Other
- Baby towels
- Disposable newborn and infant size nappies
- Baby toys (wooden or plastic are preferred)
- Books (hardcover and softcover)
- Wipes
- Bottles
- Breast pumps
- Burp clothsÂ
- Wool or natural fibre yarn or fabrics for our crafters
- Baby baths
I have items larger than Size 1 - can I donate these?
Often The Nest Collective gets requests for larger childrenâs sizes. Please contact your nearest branch to find out if these sizes are needed.
